Home and School
My name is Katie Fitzgerald this will be my fourth year as Home and School President! My husband, Joe, and I have three children. Our oldest son, Zeb, is a sophomore at Dowling and our son, Keegan, is a freshman at Dowling. Our daughter, Eden, is in 5th grade Spanish Immersion at SAS. They are all participants in the Spanish Immersion program and we are very impressed!
I earned a bachelors degree from UNI in Communications with a Marketing minor and after college worked at Principal Financial Group. I became a stay-at-home Mom after Zeb was born and enjoy volunteering at the school. I am also a substitute teacher and the social director for the church.
My husband and I joined St. Anthony’s in 2005 and are active parishioners. I am proud to be a part of St. Anthony’s community and look forward to a fantastic year with lots of fun activities!
My name is Heather Carman-Johnson and this will be my second year as Home and School Vice President! I have three children that all attend SAS. Max is in 7th grade (completed the Spanish Immersion program), Leo is in the 5th grade Spanish Immersion program, and Lucy is in 4-year-old Pre-K.
I earned my master’s in education degree from Viterbo University in 2008. I work with individuals receiving IEP services for Des Moines Public Schools as the 4+ Coordinator. I have been in the education field for 20 years.
I have been a part of St. Anthony’s my entire life. I was a member of the very first Kindergarten class at SAS. I am proud to be involved with such a faith-based, fun-loving community and look forward to another great year of bringing families together!
Hello, my name is Karime and I am your new SAS Secretary. My husband, Joel, and I have three daughters. Helena is in third grade Spanish Immersion, Rose is in three year old preschool, and Dorothy our one year old.
I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2002 with two degrees, one in Art and one in Environmental Studies. My husband and I opened our optometry office in 2006 where we enjoy serving many people, including the Hispanic community, as our entire staff is bilingual.
We joined St. Anthony Parish in 2015 when our first daughter started school and cherish all of the relationships we have formed, and continue to form. I look forward to supporting our school and all the fantastic things that are happening here!
