President

Hello!

My name is Katie Fitzgerald this will be my fifth year as Home and School President!  My husband, Joe, and I have three children.  Our oldest son, Zeb, is a junior at Dowling and our son, Keegan, is a sophomore at Dowling.  Our daughter, Eden, is in 6th grade here at SAS. They are all participants in the Spanish Immersion program, and we are very impressed!

I earned a bachelors degree from UNI in Communications with a Marketing minor and after college worked at Principal Financial Group. I became a stay-at-home Mom after Zeb was born and enjoy volunteering at the school and church.  I am also a substitute teacher at St. Anthony’s.

My husband and I joined St. Anthony’s in 2005 and are active parishioners.  I am proud to be a part of St. Anthony’s community and look forward to a fantastic year with lots of fun activities!

Vice President
Crystal Tallman

Hi!

My name is Crystal Tallman, and I’m your new SAS Home and School Vice President.  My husband, Derick, and I have three kids, Nolan is in second grade Spanish, Colin is in kindergarten Spanish, and our daughter, Rylan, is three years old.

I attended Iowa State and double majored in Dietetics and Spanish for my undergrad then went on to earn a master’s in Dietetics from there as well.  I work as an oncology dietitian at MercyOne.  I have always loved the Spanish language and culture and think, as a community, we are so fortunate to have a Spanish immersion program in Des Moines and am excited my kids can be a part of it.

I enjoy being involved in my kids’ school and look forward to meeting more members of the SAS community and serving in this role!

Secretary
Karime Reveiz Westrum

Hello,

My name is Karime Reveiz Westrum.  I have been the Home and School Secretary since 2019.  My husband, Joel, and I have three daughters who all attend St. Anthony School.  I enjoy being involved in St. Anthony School and helping whenever I can.  I love watching the kids grow, learn and form friendships.  We were drawn to St. Anthony’s by the Spanish Immersion program and love that our kids are involved in it.

Treasurer
Tara Mattiussi
Hola!

My name is Tara Mattiussi and I’m your new H&S Treasurer. My boys, Dominic (Spanish 1st grade) and Andrew (Spanish Kindergarten), are 4th generation St. Anthony students. My husband, Roger, attended Christ the King, but we won’t hold that against him ðŸ˜Š

After SAS I attended Lincoln High School, then went Augustana College in IL where I triple majored in Management, Marketing, and Spanish with a minor in Psychology. I did a year of AmeriCorps* VISTA, then got my Master’s in Education from Iowa State. I currently work at ITA Group as a Client Success Manager and at Grand View University as an Adjunct Academic Advisor. I am still a proud South Side resident and enjoy frequenting my family’s pizza place, Bordenaro’s Pizza.

As a Spanish major I was able to travel abroad to Ecuador and Peru, where I learned the importance of true immersion in order to cement language learning. I was thrilled to learn that SAS was implementing a Spanish immersion program and that my niece would be able to be in the 1st class. I love the SAS community and am excited to further serve the kids and school as your 2022-2023 H&S Treasurer.
