Welcome to Music & Band
Hello! My name is Thomas Kolbo and I am teaching K-8 General Music, Choir, and assisting in band here at St. Anthony. I am excited to become a part of the parish and share in the joys of music.
As a student, I attended St. Columbkille in Papillion, NE from 1st grade through 8th grade. Following that, I went to Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School in Omaha, NE. I then studied at and graduated from Simpson College with my Bachelors Degree in K-12 Music Education, and this is my first full year of teaching!
Making music has always been an important part of my life. At a young age, I was taking piano lessons along with participating in the band, jazz band, and musical theater. However, I originally wanted to become an engineer. My Junior and Senior year of High School, I was recruited and offered scholarships to compete in college for cross country and track & field, along with playing piano. Through the guidance provided by my mentors, God, and Boy Scouts (I became an Eagle Scout August of 2013), I decided to become a teacher and devote my life to the service of others.
In College, I discovered singing, and quickly became involved in my college's choral program. To this day, I still continually develop my choral skills by participating in the Des Moines Vocal Arts Ensemble (DMVAE). My hope is that I can share my passion for music with your students in a way that will inspire them to make music an integral part of their lives. It is a joy to meet all of you and for us to work together in harmony at St. Anthony.
