Learning to Music

Hello to all! I am Marisol Guerra. I have been the Kindegarten Spanish Immersion teacher and Lead Teacher of the program for 9  years now. The students call me Señora Guerra.  I have a bachelor’s degree in Education from my country and a Masters Degree from Longwood University in Curriculum Developement and Instruction Specialist. I am from a beautiful country in Central America called Honduras. I came to Des Moines with my two children. My oldest graduated from Dowling Catholic High School and my youngest is a junior at Roosevelt this year. We recently adopted a dog. His name is Tano. So we are now a family of 4 and very happy.

I have been teaching a second language for more than 20 years. Previous to coming to St. Anthony I taught English at an English Immersion school in Honduras and now I am teaching my native language to Kindergartners and learning about the richness of the Spanish language with other colleagues.
Kindergarten  is a year in which your children are completely immersed in the Spanish Language, its culture and diversity. Through projects, activities, books, songs, reading, writing, plays and lots of love, patience and care, they will learn the skills necessary to succeed in an academic environment and in their personal lives. Let’s work together to make your child’s learning meaningful and unforgettable!!
I am looking forward to this new wonderful year with your children. It will be challenging but very rewarding!!!!

Thank you for your support and faith in the program.
